School of Management at IIT Kanpur

IIT Kanpur will soon have a world class business management school with financial assistance from an alumni couple. This gives a huge boost to the MBA program currently offered by IME department. The program , which started in 2001, has itself generated great interest and has achieved unparallel growth in a very short time. Perhaps it’s the testimony to the success of the program which has attracted the attention of IITK alumni.


Raj Singh and his wife Neera Singh (US based alumni) have given Rs. 9 crore for setting up the business school. “We want that IIT-K should have a world class school of business management so that students passing from this institute can compete with others,” Mr. Singh told news agencies during their visit at IIT Kanpur.


The School of management would definitely bring some welcome changes enhancing the value of MBA program. The number of seats will definitely increase with due course of time and this would be a good news for the MBA aspirants at IITK. The timings for the SOM is excellent. Already the MBA program by IIT K has been proved a success and the demand for MBAs is increasing with each passing day. The whole world looks for MBAs from Indian top notch institutes and now the latest School Of Management in IIT Kanpur will put this program on an elevated platform that will be highly acclaimed by Global MNCs.


IIT K has a track record of giving one of the best placements among the top institutes and the growth rate in the quality of placements are self evident ( this year also the whole batch has been placed with record placements in just a few hours). The effect of Kanpur city being a non Metro has also been nullified with the starting of regular flights between Kanpur and Delhi and is being highly acclaimed by corporate people.


Recognising the tremendous growth potential, this move is sure to register as a milestone for making the management education at IIT Kanpur comparable to the best in the world. The institute has already been synonymous with the epitome of technical education. Now, it is taking quantum leaps in the field of management education.
